Dear Kimberly,

Thanks to your ongoing support, millions of animals can look forward to a brighter future in 2009.

And while I’m truly enthused by the things we accomplished together this year, we can’t stop fighting now — not when we have the opportunity to do even more to save and protect animals in the coming years.

Kimberly, will you make a special year-end tax-deductible gift before midnight tonight to help animals in 2009 and beyond?

We will put your donation to work immediately to:

  • Pass stronger federal legislation to crack down on abusive puppy mills and launch our national advertising campaign to promote adoptions of dogs and cats from animal shelters
  • Ban the cruel confinement of animals on factory farms nationwide, building on our passage of Prop 2 in California
  • Enforce laws to stop dogfighting, cockfighting, and other forms of malicious animal cruelty, and send animal abusers to jail
  • Stop Canada’s barbaric seal hunt
  • Deploy our emergency services teams to rescue animals from floods, fires, and other natural disasters
All these goals and more are within our grasp next year. Help carry the momentum of this historic year for animals forward. Make your tax-deductible year-end gift today — the deadline is midnight (Eastern time) tonight, December 31st.

With the economy in a tailspin, the needs of animals are greater than ever — and the work of The Humane Society of the United States in public policy, animal rescue, undercover investigations, and more serves as a national safety net for animals.

I wish you a new year filled with joy and compassion. Thank you again for your heartfelt dedication to animals.

Sincerely,
Wayne's

Please Vote NO for the Wolf Killer!!!

November 2, 2008

The last time I did a blog on saving Alaskan Wolves from a Barbaric Massacre, I had no idea that just shortly after, one of the promoters and supporters of these horrific slayings would be running for VP.

I would love to say so many things in regard to this, but I think I will try to calm my blood from boiling and keep it short and sweet. I think these videos speak for themselves.

Sorry I have not been around much lately. I know some of you have been wondering where I have been, and just figured I met a great guy & rode off into the sunset ….. Well, I am still here…lol! As I think all of you know, I am very much an animal lover and in August found out that my 15 yr old kitty’s cancer came back. He had a tumor removed 2 years ago and the vets are shocked that it has taken so long to come back.

His sonogram showed that it might be possible to remove the tumor again, but unfortunately once they got in they found that the tumor was in an inoperable spot….

There is nothing more we can do medically, and the vets don’t think he has much time. I am not one to give up and cannot just sit around doing nothing, so I have been trying some holistic remedies that I am hoping are helping him. Fish Oil (Omega 3), Tumeric and fresh brewed Green Tea & other phytonutrients, polyphenols and antioxidants have been shown in human & animal studies to help shrink tumors and promote cancer cell death.

Unfortunately, a good holistic veterinarian in this area is hard to find, so I got alot of great information on the internet. The October 2008 Prevention Magazine was very informative. When you are dealing with animals you have to be very careful. Some things that are good for people may be dangerous for your cat or dog.

After doing all that reading I am adding a few of them to my diet. It is amazing how much benefit these naturals food are to your own system.

As long as he doesn’t get stressed about it & seems content and comfy, there is nothing that I won’t do to try to help him.

I am pleased that his hair is starting to grow back where he was shaved for surgery…. I am hoping that it is a good sign…

His appetite is still pretty good, although some days I pop open about 20 cans just to try to find what he is in the mood for!

Still the One… Orleans

May 4, 2008

A long time fave! I love it! Such a Happy Song!!!
STILL THE ONE (Orleans)

We’ve been together since way back when
Sometimes I never want to see you again
But I want you to know, after all these years
You’re still the one I want whisperin’ in my ear
You’re still the one I want to talk to in bed
Still the one that turns my head
We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one
I looked at your face every day
But I never saw it ’til I went away
When winter came, I just wanted to go
Deep in the desert, I longed for the snow
You’re still the one that makes me laugh
Still the one that’s my better half
We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one
You’re still the one that makes me strong
Still the one I want to take along
We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one
Changing, our love is going gold
Even though we grow old, it grows new
You’re still the one that I love to touch
Still the one and I can’t get enough
We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one
You’re still the one who can scratch my itch
Still the one and I wouldn’t switch
We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one
You are still the one that makes me shout
Still the one that I dream about
We’re still having fun, and you’re still the one…

Searching for A Heart of Gold… Neil Young

April 13, 2008

Love it… feel it….

I want to live,
I want to give
I’ve been a miner
for a heart of gold.
It’s these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching
for a heart of gold
And I’m getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I’m getting old.

I’ve been to Hollywood
[ Find more Lyrics at www.mp3lyrics.org/Ih ]
I’ve been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean
for a heart of gold
I’ve been in my mind,
it’s such a fine line
That keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I’m getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I’m getting old.

Keep me searching
for a heart of gold
You keep me searching
for a heart of gold
And I’m getting old.
I’ve been a miner
for a heart of gold…

Hey, Hey, My, My
Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There’s more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue
and into the black
You pay for this,
but they give you that
And once you’re gone,
you can’t come back

The king is gone
but he’s not forgotten
Is this the story
of Johnny Rotten?
It’s better to burn out
’cause rust never sleeps

but he’s not forgotten.

Old Man
Old man look at my life,
I’m a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I’m a lot like you were.

Old man look at my life,
Twenty four
and there’s so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.

Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don’t get lost.
Like a coin that won’t get tossed
Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life
I’m a lot like you
I need someone to love me

the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that’s true.

Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn’t mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.

I’ve been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I’m all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life
I’m a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that’s true.

Old man look at my life,
I’m a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I’m a lot like you were.

When I Said I Do… Clint Black and Lisa Hartmann

April 13, 2008

Another great couple…. They seem so in love… and I think they have what it takes. I hope they stay together forever! I think this song is sooooo beautiful and it just melts my heart…….

These times are troubled and these times are good
And they’re always gonna be, they rise and they fall
We take ’em all the way that we should
Together you and me forsaking them all
Deep in the night and by the light of day
It always looks the same, true love always does
And here by your side, or a million miles away
Nothin’s ever gonna change the way that I feel,
The way it is, is the way that it was

When I said I do, I meant that I will ’til the end of all time
Be faithful and true, devoted to you
That’s what I had in mind when I said I do

Well this old world keeps changin’, and the world stays the same
For all who came before, and it goes hand and hand
Only you and I can undo all that we became
That makes us so much more, than a woman and a man
And after everything that comes and goes around
Has only passed us by, here alone in our dreams
I know there’s a lonely heart in every lost and found
But forever you and I will be the ones
Who found out what forever means

When I said I do, I meant that I will ’til the end of all time
Be faithful and true, devoted to you
That’s what I had in mind when I said I do

Truer than true, you know that I’ll always be there for you
That’s what I had in mind, that’s what I had in mind,
When I said I do…

If Tomorrow Never Comes….. Garth Brooks

April 13, 2008

This song is so beautiful…. and it is so true…. always let the people you love & care about
know it…

Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She’s lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

‘Cause I’ve lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there’s no second chance to tell her how I feel

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes

So tell that someone that you love
Just what you’re thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

Money for nothin’ get your chicks for free

Hang on Sloopy… McCoys

April 10, 2008

YAY!!!!! This is another all time fave! This song can really get me going, especially when performed live by a local band!!!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…..
NOT Snoopy! It is SLOOPY!!!

“Hang on Sloopy” is a hit song by the pop group The McCoys which was #1 in America in October 1965 and is the official rock song of the state of Ohio and The Ohio State University. It was written by Wes Farrell and Bert Russell and is named for singer Dorothy Sloop (19131998), who used the name “Sloopy” on stage.

The song was originally titled “My Girl Sloopy” and was first recorded by The Vibrations in 1964 on Atlantic Records (45-2222), becoming a top thirty hit. It was the title track of a live 1965 recording (released on Rhapsody in 1966) by the Ramsey Lewis Trio which earned a gold record. It has also been recorded by Arseno Rodriguez (Bang 1966), The Supremes (Motown 1966), The Kingsmen (WAND 1966), Little Caesar and the Consuls, The Yardbirds, Saving Jane, Jan & Dean (Capitol 1966) and Die Toten Hosen (2002). It has also been performed by Johnny Thunders and the Oddballs in a medley with “Louie Louie” and can be heard on the “Add Water and Stir” live Japan bootleg.

History

In 1965, The Strangeloves, a rock band who purported to be from Australia, decided to make the song the follow-up to their hit single “I Want Candy“, and began performing the song in concert. However, the Dave Clark Five, who they were touring with, told the Strangeloves that they were going to record their own version of the song, copying the Strangeloves’ arrangement. The Strangeloves realized that the Dave Clark Five’s version would probably outsell their own, but they were still enjoying success with “I Want Candy” and did not want to release a new single yet. So the triowho were, in reality, three successful writer/producers from Brooklyn, New York–recruited a group from Dayton, Ohio, Rick and the Raiders, to record the song instead. The group’s name was changed to The McCoys (to avoid confusion with another popular band of the era, Paul Revere and the Raiders), and their 16-year-old leader, Rick Zehringer, became known as Rick Derringer. The group added vocals and a guitar solo to the already-completed Strangeloves backing track, and the single was released on Bang Records. It entered the chart on August 14, 1965, effectively beating the Dave Clark Five to the charts. The single went on to hit number one on October 2.

The song gained an association with the Ohio State University after its marching band began playing it at football games; it first played it October 9, 1965 after a band member, John Tatgenhorst, begged the director to try playing it. After finally convincing the director, Tatgenhorst arranged the song and the band played. After the crowd reaction, the band began to play it at every game and now it is a Saturday tradition to play the song before the start of the fourth quarter of every Buckeye game. Since then, the song has become an unofficial fight song for the university, with it appearing on the band’s CDs and as a free download on its website.

The song has also become a feature at all Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns home games where, like at Ohio State, it is traditionally played before the fourth quarter. Fans usually chant the letters “O, H, I, O” during the pauses in the chorus while mimicking the shape of the letters with their arms. It is also sometimes done at home games of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians.

The “O, H, I, O” chant was incorporated into a version of the song recorded by the Columbus, Ohio based rock band Saving Jane.

Legacy

The basic riff of the song became a staple of garage bands during the 1960s, being used on such songs as The Weeds‘ “It’s Your Time” and Kit and the Outlaws‘ “Don’t Tread on Me.” A 1973 cover version by Ramsey Lewis won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance in 1974. A parody named “Hang on Snoopy” was included on Swiss rock group Patent Ochsner‘s 1994 album Gmes. All-girl Japanese punk band Lolita No. 18 covered the song, which is a testament to its far-reaching influences. The song was also covered by the German punk-rock band Die Toten Hosen as b-side for their 2000 single “Bayern.” Also in 2000, Aaron Carter recorded his version, included as a bonus track on his second album, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It). In 2006, the rock group Saving Jane recorded the song as part of Ohio State‘s failed run to capture the NCAA Football Championship. There is a character in the novel The Wanderers by Richard Price named “Hang On Sloopy.” The song also appears in several Peanuts cartoons but the words are altered slightly to “Hang on Snoopy”.
